Howdy do, everyone, Papa Vinyard here.
IFC has thrown up another poster for Elijah Wood's upcoming MANIAC, and it may be the best one yet. I haven't seen the film yet, but this poster, with its font, provocative composition, and vertical credits, continues the trailer's '80s vibe that totally attracts me. It is a very cool move on IFC's part not to highlight the star's face during the marketing for the film. It definitely increases the creepiness factor, while still intriguing the viewer into seeing Wood venture deeper into SIN CITY territory that audiences aren't necessarily super-familiar with. And Jesus tap-dancing christ, I love his leather knife holster; talk about a simple-but-badass Halloween costume!!
"As long as there's no blood, there's no way kids will find it traumatizing that that guy probably just SCALPED that blonde lady!" -the MPAA, apparantly.
MANIAC finally opens in the US in select theaters and VOD on June 21st.
