Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Picture.
Puppets are one of the cornerstones of my childhood. Not that I’m unique in that regard. I watched the same stuff every other kid in the Sesame Street generation did. On TV there was always muppets of all shapes and sizes and on the big screen their more sophisticated bigger brothers, whether they were Yoda, Gelflings or Gremlins.
Which brings us to today’s picture, from the set of Joe Dante’s underrated Gremlins 2. I like this movie for many of the same reasons I like Temple of Doom. We can argue about those two movies all day long, but the fact that they went out on a limb to not photocopy the first film in their respective series gets big ups from me. I also happen to like the direction the narratives chose, but that’s a longer discussion. Now’s time to look at puppets!
Below are a gaggle of puppeteers operating them dastardly Gremlins. Left to right we have Sally Ray, Brent Baker, Grant Arndt, Jose Fernandez and Mike Jolly.
Thanks to Michael Heintzelman for the image!
