Howdy do, everyone, Papa Vinyard here.
Yahoo has premiered a new red-band trailer for the new Aubrey Plaza movie, THE TO-DO LIST. Over the course of the 3-minute, 20-second trailer, we get appearances by Bill Hader, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Donald Glover, Andy Samberg, Rachel Bilson, Connie Britton, Clark Gregg, and Alia Shawkat as the various people Plaza's character encounters on her quest to trade in her v-card. I'm all about extending the genre of "losing one's virginity" sex comedies to include women as well, but I am not very impressed by the humor on display here. The pearl necklace, teabag, and topless-chick jokes seem quite stale to me: THE LAST AMERICAN VIRGIN this ain't. THE TO-DO LIST was written and directed by Hader's wife, Maggie Carey, which could maybe explain why he gets the only solid laugh in the whole trailer (which, I am told, is the only great bit in the whole film).
When will Shawkat get a movie role deserving of her talents?! Must we point to her in stuff like this and WHIP IT to show off what she is capable of? #marryme
THE TO-DO LIST opens July 26th.
