Hey folks, Harry here with the latest on the.... AAAAAAHHHH, OH NO... DENNIS MUREN IS LEAVING STAR WARS!!!!! R-U-M-O-R that Scott Chitwood over at MovieHeadlines sent me yesterday. Turns out that Scott got about half the story right. Which half? Well that brilliant assassin of assassins, Smilin' Jack Ruby is here to clarify the situation, and make everything as clear as crystal. Seems that due to the miracles of modern scheduling... Muren is able to do... BOTH!!!
Harry,
Dennis Muren IS going to be working on the "Star Wars Episode II" stuff, but next year. When I was interviewing John Knoll and Scot Squires at the Saturn Awards, I asked specifically why Muren wasn't there to accept his award, and they said that he's overseas already working on "A.I." I asked if he would be working on "Episode II," and Knoll replied that he and Squires were headed to Australia the following week, but Muren would most likely be joining them in a year's time.
So, NO, Muren isn't abandoning "Star Wars."

Hey there Folkerinos, Harry here with a scoop from long time netizen and one of the grand poobahs at TheForce.Net, a most excellent and thorough STAR WARS news site, as well as the start up MovieHeadlines.Net. Now, I am not aware of their sources on this, but given that it's Scott Chitwood, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt here... He's pretty damn good at what he does. So read on and ponder it's meaning. I mean... great... this means that A.I. will be in an absolute genius' hands... BUT... it means that Dennis Muren won't be on Episode 2... which basically means that it looks like nearly everyone that worked on the original pre-pixelated Star Wars... seems to not be working on this version... at least so far as the leaders of the Visual Effect Revolution within STAR WARS. Hmmm... I feel kind of odd about this... How about you?
Harry;
Please forgive me if this is old news to you. I surfed around and didn't see mention of it, so I'm assuming this is an exclusive to us.
We've recently heard from spies at ILM who tell us that Dennis Muren will be in charge of the effects for Steven Spielberg's (or Stanley Kubrick's, depending on who you're talking to) A.I. Muren and ILM will be working on this together.
Since Muren will be lead on that project, he won't be working on Star Wars Episode II. Quite a change considering his major role in all the other Star Wars films.
