Moto's experiences on the set of Soderbergh's TRAFFIC

Hey folks, Harry here with a bit more from our eyes and ears on a few sets, Moto. Yesterday he related his experiences on the set of BEDAZZLED when it was shooting months ago, and now he's relating the experience of working in and on Steven Soderbergh's TRAFFIC... a film that if it goes as well as it's script... It could be up for a butt-load of honors and acclaim when it comes out... later this year? Will it be ready? I'm hoping so... Here's the scoop....

Hey Harry,

I figured that after I posted the Bedazzled stuff, people might be interested in this info.

I was called in to work as a stand-in for the San Diego shoot of "TRAFFIC" last month. For those who may not know, TRAFFIC is the Steven Soderbergh (ERIN BROCHOVICH) film that Harrison Ford SHOULD have been in!! Instead, Michael Douglas took his place after Ford pulled out.

Anyway, I was scheduled to be a stand-in for an actor that was playing an intelligence equipment dealer. The scenes were being shot in and out of the Marriot in San Diego. The first scene shot is going to be one of those uber-cool scenes that we will all talk about.

It's set in a hotel suite where a shady guy is listening to this techno nerd try to sell him the best "spy gadgets" on the "blackmarket". This shady character listens to this kickass monologue about the future of high tech spying... asks a few questions and then says the coolest line.

SPOILER ALERT... KIND OF....

SPY TECH: "So, what field are you in? P.I.? C.I.A.?

SHADY CHARACTER: "Assasin."

SPY TECH: "Assasin? Alright, let's get you going."

Just a kickass scene!!

Next, we filmed with the great Benicio Del Toro... he plays a dealer working with the Feds. They are giving him a Lie Detector test with some specialists. Del Toro is easily one of the most captivating actors out there. Watching him prepare for these scenes was a true learning experience for any actor. Strangely enough, he looks like a hispanic Leo DiCaprio.

The last scene we filmed was in the pool as Feds talk with Del Toro's character... asking for his cooperation in busting some people. The scene was shot with a steady cam held by the director Steven Soderbergh. Steven and the D.P. were in wetsuits holding the camera in the water. Watching this director work was excellent... he has such an eye for style and lighting. Again, Del Toro has an excellent monologue in this scene! And keep your eyes open for all of the bikinis! Sorry, couldn't help myself.

NOTE: Off the subject, BEDAZZLED's Director of Photography is none other than the guy that did MATRIX... Bill Pope!!!!
