Hello ladies and gentlemen, it's your pal Muldoon here with this week's round up awesome short films. With the release of a pretty big scifi film hitting theaters this weekend, I'm thinking - "Hey, let's carry that scifi visual lovefest from the theater all the way into the home" or hey, possibly you're in a spot where "Muldoon, money's tight and I can't really hit up a cinemaplex this weekend, but all this talk of scifi is bumming me out." Have no fear, SATURDAY SHORTS is here and here with some truly spectacular films I can't help but get excited about. Below you will find four films that will fulfill your scifi cravings. So are you down to travel to distant worlds, head back in time, and run from kille robots with me? Let's go.
Go grab yourself some popcorn, lock your kids in a closet, kill the lights, relax and check out this little weekly film fest we've got ourselves here:
ABE
TRT: 8:22
And buckle up, because our first film is likely to blow you away (Bazinga!). Okay, cheesy blogger cliche's aside, this is a damn fine film from SATURDAY SHORTS veteran Rob McLellan. This guy is on a roll with these scifi genre benders. What creepy, disturbing moments he's able to achieve with a digital model. To say I'm impressed is an understatement. Check out the film's website if you like what you see.

JUDGE MINTY
TRT: 27:01
Damn this is awesome. Ain't It Cool? Yes, this 27 minute dip into Mega City One is absolutely cool. If you're holding out for a DREDD sequel (as am I!) then hopefully this can help hold you over until they eventually give us another. In case you need to be told, yes - this is a fan film and it's incredible. (C'mon JURASSIC PARK fan films...) From director Steven Sterlacchini we get a slice of life in the world of Judge Minty. "Judge William Minty has spent his entire adult life policing the violent streets of Mega-City One - and now he's slowing down. When a lapse of judgement almost ends his life, he knows that it's time to quit. He can choose to teach in the Academy, or he can leave the city and walk alone out into the anarchy of the Cursed Earth, taking law to the lawless."
ROBOT
TRT: 4:49
Quieres mas robots? Bam! Here we have another fun flick with an inorganic metallic being. Steve Hayes directed a pretty sweet flick all within the confines of a 48 film competition. Keep 'em coming, Steve!

THE BUBBLE
TRT: 3:46
Another SATURDAY SHORTS veteran makes his way onto this week with THE BUBBLE. Sharad Kant Patel is a solid filmmaker with a truly unique style. (Check out THE APPLE). This is par for course for an incredible career the guy's getting going with. Yes, I'm a fan. "An elderly couple wander an art museum as the husband tries to jog the fading memory and mind of his dear wife. Something magical and spectacularly cosmic unfolds."

*UPDATE ON NICK PETERSON'S THE VISITANT:
Hey folks, DRAINED's Nick Peterson clued me into the fun film he is in the process of making and just as a cool update on a past SS filmmaker, here's a little bit of news. They've since cast the lovely and talented Amy Smart and have released some cool concept pieces:
That's it for this week, ladies and gents. I'll see you all next saturday with more short film fun. And hey, if you've got a cool short - shoot it at me! (Just please... If I have to wait for a one minute ad to play before your five minute film, I'm not going to post it - I'm sure that sounds messed up, but I'm not going to ask the SS viewers to collectively stare at a medical ad or some biz like that in order to watch a film.) But hey, hit up any of the links below and go get yourself some fun film viewing:

If you have a short and think it belongs here or are on the fence about whether to send it in, please do send it in - I'd love to see what you've put together. I've already seen hundreds of fresh new filmmakers' shorts and like any good addict, I need more!
Shoot me an email at "Mike@aintitcool.com"
In the subject line include:
“SHORTS” + “Your film’s name” + “The film’s genre”
Then, in the body of the email, please include a synopsis of the film and any contact information you might think I need or would want published. The more info you send my way, the more info there is to put with your short.
Please don’t feel the need to submit multiple times.
Remember, the filmmakers might still be in the audience, so feel free to share your thoughts in Talkbacks below. (JUST DON'T BE AN ASSHOLE). I picked them, so you know I think highly of all of these, but how about you fine folks? How'd you like 'em?
