Yesterday we got our first plot synopsis and new information on cast members and today we got our first glimpse of next year's sequel to RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES via director, Matt Reeves' Twitter account. It's pretty uneventful but we get our first look at new star, Jason Clarke and Andy Serkis reprising his role as Caesar.
The main point I am taking away from the recent news is that this seems like it is going to continue the recent trend of sequels being much darker than their predecessors. DAWN is going to be post-apocalyptic and sounds like it is going to be a cross between the final film in the original series, 1973's BATTLE FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES and the recent shitty 2009 Terminator sequel, TERMINATOR SALVATION. I am hoping that Reeves will make a better film than both of those and continue the quality established by Rupert Wyatt on RISE.
I guess we will see when DAWN OF THE PLANET APES hits theaters May 24,2014.
