Hey folks, Harry here... Wow... I really didn't think that Raimi would be testing this thing so quickly, but I suppose he's trying to lock this sucker down in preparation to jump ship onto SPIDER-MAN. Expect a review shortly from Sister Satan on the script, but this is a review of the actual rough cut of the film as it stands right now. THIS IS PAINFULLY EARLY in the process, with quite a bit of work left to do. But I know Moriarty is a fan of the script, while Mysterio wasn't quite. Seems like the film is well on the path to working though... Here ya go, and remember... it still has months of work before it's done.
Hey All --
Friday night I skipped the Laker game and made it to a screening of Sam Raimi's new film The Gift. Movie has Cate Blanchett starring with Keanu Reeves, Giovanni Ribisi, Katie Holmes, Hilary Swank, and Greg Kinnear all in supporting roles.
This is a very touching and suspenseful film. Co-Written by Billy Bob Thorton its kind of a southern fried Sixth Sense meets Sling Blade. There is lots of screwed up small town stuff and very violent men.
Keanu Reeves is heavy and bearded and a dirty mean villainous bastard and Giovanni Ribisi is kind of Carl (Sling Blade) only younger and a lot more on edge.
Cate Blanchett plays a psychic in a small town who becomes entangled in the lives of the people she reads for. I really enjoyed this film and I'm anxious to see how the box office reaction is.
My impression is that the film is about 90% there and the slight problems it still has are going to be fixed before the film is finished. The score was still very rough and hopefully that will help ease through the few spots in the picture that drag.
Overall I really liked this film and think all you Spiderman fans are going to be even more pumped up after they see this. Cate Blanchett really comes into her own in a very American role here and its these touching family scenes which if slipped into Spiderman will probably make all the difference in the world.
One spoiler, ( and it ought to start more than a few geeks slobbering out there, I know I was), this is definitely Katie Holmes most provocative role to date with lots of sexy behavior and some serious skin.
I'm not much of a reviewer but I hope this will be of interest to some.
Just call me -- Peojo.
