Hey folks, Harry here. About two days ago I got a call from William Friedkin, director of FRENCH CONNECTION, TO LIVE AND DIE IN L.A. and SORCEROR.... and for the purposes of this particular posting, THE EXORCIST and ol Mr Friedkin tells me that the MPAA just rejected their trailer for the special edition of THE EXORCIST. Apparently this is just too intense. I can't imagine that this is too tough for a red band trailer, but I suppose he means for 'general' release... Whatever the case.... I don't see the problem. William asked me if I wanted to show all you folks the trailer that will never be, and I said... why certainly. And so he sent it.
Now, before you download the trailer you should know that the source material for this Quicktime was of inferior quality. You see, it seems that when the MPAA is testing trailers, they get them in a video format before the studios have made the expensive film prints, so this trailer never really got past the avid video transfer stage. So... as a result after the text, you'll see running numbers and code. Also... the tape was a bit dark. BUT it's the best that we could do given the material provided. I have to say though... playing the tape in a digital audio playback system... it's brutal. Ol webmaster Dave spent hours working on the best transfer and pixel rate he could get... and... well... Here ya go:
