Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. While on the red carpet for the big Iron Man 3 premiere last night, Yahoo Movies grabbed some words with Joss Whedon who revealed that he's finished the first draft of the Avengers 2 script and then teased two new characters.
"I've got these two characters, two of my favorite characters from the comic book; a brother-sister act."
Naturally, this could be Whedon having fun with us or trying to spread a little misinformation, but if he isn't then he's most likely referring to Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Marvel Films' head honcho Kevin Feige has said that those two characters are unique in that both Fox and Marvel share the rights to use them in films.
If you don't know, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are Magneto's kids, which would set an interesting precident in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I can't think of another direct connection like that that spans the mountains of contracts and legal mumbojumbo between different studios.
Anyway, we know for sure that Joss has finished a draft and there are new Avengers in the mix. Have I mentioned it's an exciting time to be a geek?
