Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. The average movie goer isn't going to realize that this crazy buddy crime flick is actually one of the bigger comic book adaptation this year. 2 Guns is a pulp comic written by Steven Grant and illustrated by Mat Santolouco and the very first trailer for the adaptation, starring Denzel Washington, Mark Wahlberg, Edward James Olmos, James Marsden and Bill Paxton just hit.
So this one will fall in with flicks like A History of Violence as a stealth comic book movie, one that most people will see and not realize it's actually a comic adaptation. I really dig that. It shows the diverse nature of the art of graphic storytelling. Not everything is capes and mutants and gadgets and men in suits.
The trailer itself is pretty damn great. I'm gonna go against the grain here and say that I think that Denzel Washington fella is one charming dude. I know it's pretty brave of me to say that since I'm clearly the first person in the world to acknowledge it, but I call 'em as I see 'em.
Wahlberg looks to have a hell of a 2013 in the works. He looks great in this and Pain and Gain looks to be incredible, too. The two names I'm most excited to see in 2 Guns, though, are Bill Paxton, who looks to be in full scene-chewing mode in the trailer, and the great Fred Ward.
It's a good trailer for what looks to be a super fun movie. Check it out:
