Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. It seems like Leonardo DiCaprio and Baz Luhrmann are on a quest to make high school a little easier to get through for the ADHD generation. Romeo + Juliet took Shakespeare's much-adapted material and gave it a new spin (and one I'm actually quite fond of) and now they have F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic THE GREAT GATSBY on the horizon.
I don't know how I managed to avoid even a single trailer before this TV spot, but I had heard they upped the scope a bit and boy they ain't kidding around. On one hand it's funny in a Tropic Thunder fake trailer way (a giant budget, eye-candy filled F. Scott Fitzgerald Hollywood adaptation), but on the other it's just so damn beautiful to look at... and I'm not just talking about Carey Mulligan's Daisy Buchanan, either.
Luhrmann has a very specific and distinct brand of visual insanity and I didn't realize how much I missed it until watching this spot and then the theatrical trailers afterwards.
So, God help me I'm so on board and actually can't wait to see this decadent behemouth in 3-D.
