Nick Cage: "I'm Giving Up Superman!"

Ok.... everybody take a nice big long sigh............

Hey folks, Harry here... and glory be to the fates above... it looks like half of SUPERMAN's problems has just left. Now, if only Jon Peters would say, "I'm Leaving Superman Too," I would be a completely happy man. As many of you know, Nick Cage has long been attached to the role of the man of steel. He has been in costume fittings and hairpiece fittings and has wanted with all his heart to play the role. A role that most fans of the series never wanted him to play. Personally, I thought it could be interesting... I like Cage, but personally I've always seen him as a more irreverant or suave hero like HELLBOY or IRON MAN... not as the man of steel. Now, we need the Death of Superman plotline to disappear with Jon Peters and Warner Brothers should hire Paul Dini and Alan Burnett to not only write, but to produce the film as well with Alex Ross as the overall production designer. Of course... that's probably just a pipe dream. God knows that Jon Peters will never let loose of his golden ticket.

Hey Head Geek,

Long time reader of your fine site and although I have submitted in the past, so have lots of others..

anyway, the much delayed Superman project remains in development hell and with these words;

"I am giving up Superman" Nicholas Cage opens the gates to either the final nail in the films colorful history or opens the door for a new Man of Steel to take the reigns.

You can hear and see Cage in his own words at www.mrshowbiz.com

I for one thought Cage would have been good in the role, but with his finally giving it up leaves this franchise with new options..I for one as much as I love the Chris Reeve films (1, 2, and parts of 3, and 4) would love to see the man of steel on the big screen again.

Thought you might find this interesting,

Jonesy
