More tidbits from the Fox Lot in Australia from the set of STAR WARS EPISODE 2

Hey folks, Harry here and this isn't anything groundbreaking or ultra-super phenomenal, but... the guy did see some stuff that might very well interest you. It seems that our guy below managed to take a peek at what is being built and can be seen at the Sydney Fox Studios. And just imagine how much fun it'd be to do that! Here ya go..

Harry,

Not the most exciting bits of news, but I thought you guys might want to know what I got out of a visit of the Sydney Fox Studios backlot tour today.

First, filming, according to the people working the tour, won't star until June 14th, and only pre-production set building is going on right now. You can usually see into the studios they are using, but they, obviously, have been sealed. However, you can just make out a few bits and pieces between the cracks of the viewing gallery curtains. Not very earth shattering things, but things nonetheless. First, there was clearly a wall in the same style as those in Epsiode One in Palpatine's office. If this was the same set or another one of his red rooms, I couldn't tell. Second, there was what looked like a marble effect panel against the studio wall; possible Theed Palace interior sprung to mind, but I always assumed those were location shots, so it may be something entirely different. I could see the back of several sets; just wood and scaffold, of course, but they did seem very short, suggesting lots of computer generated nonsense is going to be used to create much of the set's height as in the last film. The fourth and final utterly bowel-shattering thing I could make out was some sort of partial chunk of a vehicle outside. Green screen netting had been put up, to stop camera use pressumably, but by squinting through it I could see what looked very much like Luke's floating orange thing in A New Hope, only with a big top fin and silver piping. It seemed to have no front half, so either it's half built or going to be computer completed or only going to be half in shot.

Well, recover from that list of jaw-dropping insights if you will. I can also verify the possible StarDestroyer photo you posted a few weeks ago; that view is the one now covered with green netting, which only half-squinting allows you to penetrate.

Apparently, the Star Wars big-wigs' reaction to you being able to see in from the public tour areas was very angry, and that Fox Studios Tours hadn't kept their promise to prevent public photography, and the relationship between Star Wars Crew and Fox staff is now tense at best.

yours,

City6
