Not really film news, but so friggin cool I have to put it up! With a minor LOTR tidbit to boot

Hola kemosabes, Harry here... Ya know... I just couldn't help myself when I saw this note. There is just something amazingly cool about this. I remember back when I was 13 in Seymour, Texas watching the Olympic torch pass through my town... I was just in awe of it. The Olympics are such a powerful fond sense of pride for me. Not as a rah rah USA sort of thing... instead I tend to be happiest when underdogs win. When that person you have never heard of suddenly get thrust into the limelight and you stare at them... disbelief and complete personal elation upon their brow... The Torch is what leads to that. I'll never forget watching it pass me by, and I can't imagine the supreme sense of terror upon jogging with it praying that you don't trip or break an ankle for the whole world to see. That's just me probably. I'm sure Peter was thinking about things like... Well, for example I heard an interesting story the other day... and I'll include it here. Remember that shot that everyone said was Gandalf the White (as played by Ian McKellen) riding in front of what looked to be troops of some sort riding behind him? Well... I've found out that not only was that NOT Ian McKellen (it was his stunt double), but that when Peter Jackson saw the dailies from the scene, his seemingly instantaneous comment was that they couldn't use it. Why? Peter had noticed that some damn fool had put a saddle on Shadowfax... and that just wouldn't do. The shot wasn't entirely necessary, so it's been dropped from the film. So now... onto the little scoop...

Hey Harry

just a brief bit of news from Australia.

I was watching the news in Melbourne Australia last night where they were covering the olympic torch making its way to australia. At the moment, the torch is moving across new zealand and they briefly showed snippets of all the people in NZ who had been carrying the torch, among these people, for about 2 seconds was the one and only Peter Jackson!!! hope this is of some use/interest

cheers

matt
