Straight from his William Morris reps, John Woo has been meeting secretly with Tom Cruise, first in London and now in LA, about taking the helm of the much anticipated Mission Impossible 2. I'm told that a commitment from Woo would also get Cruise to commit to making it his next project.

I'm a frequent but heretofore non-contributing reader who would like to offer a little tidbit I heard the other day that made me say,....coooooollllll! It regards Mission Impossible II, which many people have heard about possibly being directed by Oliver Stone. Well, it turns out that due to the great God himself, Stanley Kubrick's long delays on production on "Eyes Wide Shut", the window of opportunity to make the picture with Oliver Stone's closed. (As many remember, Stone directed Cruise to his most emoting performance ever in "Born on the 4th of July", so they're dying to work together again. Well, at least Stone's not trying to work with Charlie Sheen anymore) Anyway, here's the news: They have just signed John Woo! Yes, that's right, the fabled Hong Kong action genius himself has signed on the dotted line, according to my sources in Hollywood. And that, my friends, is cool.
