News from the MTV MOVIE AWARDS!!! Star Wars Episode 2 news, with a comment FROM Sam Jackson

Hey folks, Harry here. This isn't all that much, but it is one of those tidbits that causes one to salivate profusely in anticipation of the payoff moment, way down the road. Also, it'll give you two of the winners at the MTV MOVIE AWARDS, the coolest movie award show I've seen. BTW... have y'all checked out the RUSHMORE Criterion disk? It rules, it has the plays of Armageddon, The Truman Show and Out Of Sight from that year's MTV MOVIE AWARDS.... Great stuff... check it out if you get a chance, onto the news...

Greetings Harry,

I am a BIG time fan of your site.

I am a (DELETED TO PROTECT THE DUDE) for MTV, and just got home from the MTV Movie Awards 2000 Taping on June 3rd.

George Lucas won the award for BEST ACTION SEQUENCE:

Star Wars: Episode 1-The Phantom Menace, The Pod Race

As he was accepting the award, Samuel Jackson was in the front row watching. Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor, LOST the "BEST FIGHT" category to Keanu Reeves vs. Laurence Fishburne, The Matrix.

Anyway, George Lucas looks over at Samuel Jackson and says something to the effect "I expect Samuel Jackson will WIN for best fight sequence next year."

Now while he was off a year, (if Ep. 2 comes out in 2001, it would be MTV Movie Awards 2002.) I am looking forward to THAT FIGHT.

I dunno if you consider this real news, ot os a real QUOTE from the man himself, I just thought I would share, being that you do, so VERY well.

This info will be public on June 8th, when the show airs...

Thanks for the great site!

The MTV Astronaut

Father Geek here with a tidbit Ozymandias sent me this morning from the British site "Popcorn" that seems to confirm the above speculation concerning George's comments at the Awards show. Any way here it is just as I received it...

From Popcorn...

************************

"Now that he has finished filming the remake of 70's classic 'Shaft', Samuel L Jackson is gearing up to switch on his light sabre for the battle of a lifetime. The actor told Popcorn he's off to Australia early next month to start work on 'Episode II'. "I'm supposed to be there on the 6th and according to George [Lucas], sounds like I get to turn my light sabre on." In 'Episode II', Jackson will play a Jedi Knight opposite Hayden Christensen as the teenager who eventually becomes Darth Vader."
