Good day, folks, El Cosmico here, with a kind reader's review of the Fight Club DVD.
You know, it simply can't be emphasized how important a good 5.1 sound system is to a home theatre, especially given the diminished screen size versus a real film theatre. Surround is key to life. Here now, our friend's review:
Whats up fellow AICN readers. I preordered a copy of the Fight Club DVD a couple months ago on ebay and was told it would not be shipped until June 6th. When I arrived home there was a little package on the floor in front of the mail shoot. I now know what it feels like to have a heart attack. I guess the gods from above felt that I should have a little good luck in my life time.
If you thought you have seen Fight Club, think again. It has never looked or sounded this beautiful before. The 5.1 Dolby is one of the best I have heard. This is the DVD that will force you to buy a sound system. That final gunshot through the cheek shook my entire house. And I will not even comment on the plane sequence because that has to be heard to be believed.
After you have watched the film once through, I would suggest that you admediatly go back and watch it with the audio commentary on. Unlike a lot of commentary tracks where they talk basically about nothing, David Fincher actually gives you info on what it took to transfer scenes from script to screen. And I don't know what it is about Norton's voice, but it feels almost hypnotic. And I guess you can say that Pitt is the comic relief of the three.
Was this worth the wait? Hell yes! My favorite film of the past couple of years and maybe of the decade has been given the proper treatment. This is everything The Matrix DVD was hyped up to be and wasn't. It puts The Abyss special edition to shame. And it basically slaughters all the James Bond special editions put together. On the morning of June 6th when you wake up, know that you have something special coming to you that day. Skip school or work and find the best sound system and biggest TV you can find and get ready to be blown away.
Keep up
Akira
Many thanks to you, kind sir. A fine reader you are. Peace and chicken grease.
