Another Vampire Franchise Is On The Way With BLOOD SISTERS!!

The Kidd here...

The Weinsteins are getting into the young adult vampire franchise business. With TWILIGHT all finished, leaving a void in the marketplace for something those fans can pour their money into, The Weinstein Company has plucked the rights for BLOOD SISTERS, the first of the six-volume Vampire Academy novel series written by Richelle Mead, out of the European Film Market in Berlin. The first adaptation is set to be helmed by Mark Waters (MEAN GIRLS), whose brother Dan (HEATHER) penned the script.

Zooey Deutch, Lucy Fry and Danila Kozlovsky have already been cast as the three leads, with TWC being aggressive in getting this series started, pushing BLOOD SISTERS towards a summer production start in order to land in theatres for February 14, 2014.

What exactly is the story of BLOOD SISTERS to kick off this franchise though? The press release synopsis on the TWC deal speaks volumes.

In BLOOD SISTERS Rose Hathaway develops a mental and spiritual bond with her BVFF (best vampire friend forever) Princess Lissa. The two girls attend a strict school for vampires designed to retain their humanity where it is Rose’s task to protect the Princess. Among the everyday issues faced by teenage vampires Rose falls for Dimitri, their dreamy guardian, and together the three battle the mysterious forces of the evil Moroi who are set on destroying the Princess’s bloodline.‬

Did they seriously write BVFF...? Seriously...? I'd ask who reads this stuff, but apparently it's somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 million people worldwide.
