While I don't agree with the review by Heat Wave, I figure that if someone out there likes the Deep Impact script... well it needs to be said. Both Glen, my Father and I all felt the script was too... "TV-ish" for me. Anyway here is Heat Wave's review of the script, he felt it was so hot this asbestos suit wasn't quite protection for him. One warning though... there are SPOILERS here, so precede at your own risk...
I just finished reading the Deep Impact script that my gang on the west coast sent me. All i can say is WOW! It's amazing. I cant wait for May 8th. Basically Deep Impact is 'Titanic meet ID4'. Many interesting characters in D:I. The script builds slowly the tension. Once the comet hits Earth, it blows you away. Here's a short Synopsis of the storyline:
Leo Biederman(Elijah Wood) finds the comet one night while studying the sky with his High-School Astronomy club. He sends his discovery to Marcus Wolf, an astronomer, who dies hours later in a car crash. We then cut to two years later. Jenny Lerner(Tea Leoni), a CNN Reporter in Washington DC, discovers the 'real' reason of the secretary of Defense resignation. A women called Ellie. Pursuing her leads, she discovers its not Ellie but something called E.L.E (Extinction Level Event). Before she can even break the news, its too late. The President gives a Worlwide News Conference. He announces the discovery of the Wolf-Biederman Comet and its heading for earth. He also announces the plan for a joint american/russian space mission intitled The Messiah. Their plan, same one as in Armageddon, is to drill and put a few dozen atomic bombs and detonate the damn thing. Their goal: To put the comet on a different path. They have two years before the comet hits.
I wont tell you more cause i could spoil the entire movie. Anyway it will kick some major ass in May.
