Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with some interesting if not super promising news on the big screen adaptation of Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book.
You may remember that the great Henry Selick was developing the adaptation last year, to be a big stop motion production, but the project died when Selick and Disney parted companies. Now it looks like it's been reconceptualized as a live action film and Ron Howard is close to stepping into the director's chair, says THR's Heat Vision Blog
In terms of material, Gaiman's book was definitely more in line with Selick's style and Selick had already proven adept at adapting Gaiman's work with Coraline. When I hear about a potential movie about a boy raised by ghosts after his family is murdered I don't jump immediately to Ron Howard.
But I've liked a good amount of Howard's films I hate it when assholes like me pigeonhole directors, so I won't throw too much of a fit. And hey, if Howard is jumping from his F1 movie to this project that means he still hasn't been able to get my precious Dark Tower going anywhere and I'm more than happy to see that one fall into the "almost happened" section of Hollywood myth.
