A short closing report on CANNES from Euro-AICN

Well, the festival is winding down and Edgard has run off to the South of Spain on some mission, but Darth Bond is still sending Father Geek reports from CANNES, so here it is...

Darth Bond from EuroAICN here with yet another fantastic Cannes report by H.G.Wells:

Checked STARDOM, which is closing Festival tonight. It stars Jessica Pare (looks too much like Liv Tyler, i.e. she's a babelicious...) as a Canadian girl who shoots up to stardom once she becomes a glorified diva supermodel. The film overall narrates her misadventures in Paris, NY and Montreal. Obvious satire about society and the addictive need of humans for the so-called 15-minute claim of fame, pic laughs on ourselves completely refitted for television tabloid lifestyle. Not a fresh original idea, but worth two cents to check Frank Langella and Dan Aykroyd in supporting roles... after all, it serves quite well as closing film for a Cannes post- hangover...

Tomorrow Sunday The Festival reruns the main films in Competition at Rooms Debussy and J. Bory. Whoever missed one of the films, please don't throw away your badge yet. Also, check out Dancer, a surprise indie coming from UK... it's a pleasant hit for audiences along with Mallboy, also screening tomorrow night...

Ciao,

H.G. Wells

PS: CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON is gonna rock on US release. This new Ang Lee pic is pretty much The Matrix of the Martial Arts films. Sorry, I am not gonna spoil it... to unfair if I did... Go see it for yourself, you are not going to regret it...

-Remember to send Edgard and I any Euro film scoops you got to euroaicn@yahoo.com Check ya later.
