Well... Hallenbeck, Goldfinger, Flunky SideKick and I didn't go see a movie... Nope. Instead Sheena the Queen of the L.A. Jungle swung in and highjacked us into the hills of Hollywood. We were off to a real live 'young Hollywood shinding'. We were all a little nervous about being there... you know "I don't know anyone..." "Nobody'll like me..." "They're all snobs..." the standard. Well, as the car climbed the 90 degree incline we discovered that we were indeed going up Up UP into the Hills. Turns out the house we were going to was... Bogie and Bacall's old place from a long long time ago. This place was fantastic.. about 3 or 4 levels, rooms with window overlooking all of Hollywood. Right out to the left was Reggie Miller's place, and to our right was Al Pacino's old shack, and at the top of the street... WEIRD AL YANKOVIC!!!! GOD lives up there, that wonderful frizzy haired accordian playing tunesmith... cool.
Once inside debauchery was to be seen everywhere... pagan activities... raw fish cooked for you on command, beer, mixed drinks, ummm other things... Very HOLLYWOOD but not in the evil way. This was a party that could and does happen back home in Austin, but this was... well a better view. Once I found out this was the digs for Bogie and Bacall, I began to get carried away. I mean in this place one of the greatest film romances took place... between two of the most enigmatic legends ever to grace the screen. As I stood on the deck... I realized they stood there, as I warmed myself by the fire and had a drink or two, I could travel back in time to when Bogie had Huston over to talk about a movie about him sailing a tug in Africa... the things these walls have seen... Astounding. Well, it's about 6 hours till that dang Vanity Fair shoot. As the news warrants I'll be updating from L.A. I'll be back in Austin, Sunday night... Stay tuned....
