Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
Now this shot won’t exactly set the world on fire and could very well have been taken just before production or just after production on The Monster Squad, one of my personal favorite ‘80s movies, but it’s still cool and it’s a lazy Sunday, so fuck it. Why not enjoy a nice close up shot of the Gillman suit, I say.
Of all the monsters made by Stan Winston Studios for the film, their version of the creature is my favorite. I know that director and co-writer Fred Dekker intended to use classic Universal Monster designs for the movie, but then Universal wouldn’t cooperate so they had to do fresh takes on all the monsters. The Wolfman turned out spectacularly, Frankie looks great, but it’s Gillman that really takes the cake. That goddamn thing looks real!
Thanks again to Pat Barnett for sending this one along… and is it just me or is that Dracula’s cape edging its way into frame there? Click to slightly enlargen.
