Hey folks, Harry here with that rat nosed bastard, Francis Fratelli... yeah... of the Fratelli brothers, chiming in with the skinny on CHICKEN RUN. I am DYING to see this jewel. Can you imagine... soon... very soon, we will get to see the first AARDMAN feature film?!??! I'm dying here in anticipation. Oh... and Francis... I am not Chunk but I do love Baby Ruths...
Hey Chunk, Francis Fratelli here with a little bit egg for ya. The other day, Ma, me, oh and my brother Jake, all pulled this job at a lab. Get this, the place turns out to be loaded with prints of movies headed to test screenings. There was one shipping can I just had to score. It was clearly labelled CHICKEN RUN, and it was sitting inbetween A PERFECT STORM and THE PATRIOT so I figured fuggetaboutit, and snatched it. We screened it and,
Finally, Dreamworks gets it right! Well, with a lotta help from Aardman. This is one of the best animated films I've seen in some time. If you like Aardman, you will not be disappointed!
Mel Gibson is Rocky-the Rhode Island Red. A circus chicken who gets shot out of a cannon and ends up at a chicken farm. The chickens are desperate to get out and see Rocky as their ticket...if he can teach them to fly. Even though he can't, he agrees to try if they hide him from the circus owners who are looking for him. There are many funny sequences of the chickens trying to learn how to fly, not realizing that Rocky is full of shit.
However, the Tweedy's(owners of the farm) have decided that eggs are bringing in enough cash, so they decide to make chicken pies. One of the highlights is a sequence in the pie-making machine-a Rube Goldberg type of device. Suddenly, they need to get out quicker than they thought.
Basically, this is the GREAT ESCAPE done with chickens. Like all Aardman, it's definately geared towards adults, but kids might like it as well. Mel, and everyone else, is absolutley fantastic. Listen, I see a lot of crap films, so it's a real pleasure to talk about a good one.
Well done!
I better get going, I have to feed my brother Sloth now,
Francis Fratelli
