Jonathan Mostow attached to direct the Roger Avary remake script for SECONDS (2NDS)

Hey folks, Harry here. In Moriarty's most recent column (Click Here To Read) among the other items he concentrated upon was Roger Avary's screenplay for the remake of John Frankenheimer's SECONDS. In that report Moriarty stated that there was no director attached, at least as known to him. Well, that's changed. According to that green stuff that only grows on that side of the tree, Jonathan Mostow is not only producing, but also directing the script. From Moriarty's review we know that Avary has taken the material in some different directions, but in addition to that, I really hope that Mostow gets a cinematographer that can be as striking and powerful as the brilliant James Wong Howe was in the original. Mostow is a pretty interesting emerging director and I really do hope that he can really do this project justice. The original was fantastic, and was a film in the midst of the top period of film creation from Frankenheimer. He was just knocking out great film after great film like THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE, BIRDMAN OF ALCATRAZ, THE TRAIN, SEVEN DAY IN MAY (a film along with THE TRAIN that is too often overlooked). Whereas, to me... While I really enjoy Mostow's two films... they remind me of the Frankenheimer that made RONIN. Of course, RONIN is a fun flick... But SECONDS is stronger material (at least in terms of the original) than Mostow has previously dealt with... and I really look forward to seeing how he handles it.
