AICN Presents An Exclusive First Image From THE POSSESSION (Produced By Sam Raimi And Directed By Ole Bornedal)!

Beaks here...

The below picture is one of the more compelling illustrations on record as to why one should never open a dybbuk box. What's a dybbuk box? Well, it's an antique case that, according to Jewish folklore, contains a pissed-off evil spirit. In Ole Bornedal's THE POSSESSION, one such spirit takes control of a young girl (Natasha Calis), which leads to all manner of calamity for her already fractured family (the separated parents are played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick). It's produced by Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert, and written by the team of Juliet Snowden and Stiles White (who were recently assigned to the POLTERGEIST remake).

The film is due out on August 31, 2012, and I've heard from a number of trusted sources that it's a very effective horror flick. I was a fan of Bornedal's original NIGHTWATCH, so here's hoping he's brought some of that disquieting style to his first Hollywood film in over a decade.
