Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
Tim Burton’s Batman Returns is a bizarre flick and man did I eat up that weirdness when I was a kid. I vividly remember reading seeing this film and being excited to see Paul Reubens show up. This was after the whole porno theater scandal and I was pissed that they pulled Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, so it was pretty awesome seeing him show up as The Penguin’s papa. I didn’t even make the Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure/Tim Burton connection until much later.
Danny DeVito and Christopher Walken as bad guys, super-sexy Michelle Pfeiffer in skin-tight leather, an army of cute little missile-launching penguins and a tone even darker and weirder than the first Batman film… you can’t go too wrong with this one. It’s a bit sloppier than the first, but I’ll always dig it.
