The first episode of the final season of “Weeds” hits Showtime tonight, but it’s been online for about a week. Those who saw it know a major character got shot in the head. We find out at episode’s end who pulled the trigger; it’s someone we’ve seen before. Also, the original little-boxes ticky-tacky song is back over an animated title sequence that follows the Botwins on their long, strange journey from Agrestic, California, to Old Sandwich, Connecticut. I particularly like how Strange Botwin mouths off to the cops investigating the shooting. (10pm Showtime)

Cable clearly rules Sunday (at least until the return of “Big Brother” on July 15) but it’s interesting that “America’s Got Talent” in repeat form dominates Sunday broadcast almost as assuredly as it does the weekdays it airs new shows.
