Hey folks, Harry here. Man... this is weird. I completely have no real feelings about this. Until I see this in Variety or Hollywood Reporter... or hear it from Mel's lips himself... I wouldn't necessarily invest much into this. But here it is.... WEIRD!

I don't know how reliable this is but surfing the canoe.ca website I found that Mel Gibson is thinking of becoming the Dark Knight. Richard Donner to direct the next installment "The Dark Knight". You may have already heard this and I may be wasting your time but thought I'd throw in a couple of cents. Later, JediGoblin

To the Batcave, Mel! Gibson in, Clooney out LONDON -- Batman took a terrible KERPOW! at the box office in 1997. But everyone who has ever read a Batman comic book knows he always recovers and returns bigger and badder than ever.

Now, it seems, he'll return as Mel Gibson.

The London Daily Mail reports that Richard Donner, who directed Gibson in four Lethal Weapon movies and is set to direct the next Batman film for Warner Bros., wants Gibson to play the Caped Crusader.

The original plan was to cast Kurt Russell in the title role, but the Mail indicates that Gibson has tentatively agreed to don the Batsuit for the next theatrical episode, now titled 'The Dark Knight'. No word on whether it is the same story as the Frank Miller penned comic from 1988. The new movie is be filmed in Australia, where Gibson hails from.

According to The Mail, Jack Nicholson will return to play Batman's arch nemesis, The Joker.
