“As far as I know, we’re just jumping ahead [to 2036],” John Noble Told TVLine at Monday’s Critics’ Choice Awards.
The year 2036 was the setting of the standout season-four episode “Letters of Transit.” The episode depicted a future ruled by evil Observers who traveled back in time from even further in the future – a future ravaged (“Terra Nova”-style) by ecological disaster.
Walter, Peter, Olivia and Astrid will not have aged because they were trapped for decades in Earth 2 amber alongside William Bell. Lance Reddick and Blair Brown will presumably continue to wear old-age makeup to portray the decades-older Phillip Broyles and Nina Sharp.
Georgina Haig, who played Etta, the grown FBI daughter of Peter and Olivia, is expected to return as well.
The fifth and final season launches Sept. 28 with a episode titled "Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11."
