Quint finds out a tidbit about BLAIR WITCH PROJECT sequel

Hey folks, Harry here. It seems that ol Joe Berlinger is set to really go in a different direction with this sequel to THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT. Which... I might add is the only thing he could do. It would be filmic suicide to try to do EXACTLY what they did in the first film. I am fascinated by this sequel, mainly due to the fact that I think Berlinger is going to bring some brilliance to the table. The work that he and Bruce Sinofsky did on PARADISE LOST and it's sequel is harrowing and intense. To see what he does with narrative horror filmmaking... It highly interests me. I get the idea this is going to be a real departure from the first film.

Hey Harry... ladies and gentlemen... The crustiest of seamen here once more, this time recently back from the Austin equivalent of Mecca, otherwise known as the Alamo Drafthouse, where the Austin Film Society was presenting Revelations: Paradise Lost 2. They had brought out Bruce Sinofsky, co-director of Paradise Lost and it's sequel to do a Q & A.

For those of you who don't know, Bruce co-directed the Paradise Lost films with a man by the name of Joe Berlinger who is now helming Blair Witch 2. After the Q & A, I waited until we were pretty much alone and asked him how Joe was doing on Blair Witch 2. He said that Joe was really happy with what was being done and mentioned that the film will wrap at the end of May.

Now, he was kind of tight liped on the subject of the Blair Witch sequel, so I didn't get any huge news out of him, but he did mention that Joe was going for a more commercial style for the second film. He said it would be more like Scream in terms of the visual style. Not really like Scream, he said, given the context of the film, but not as "documentary" as the first film.

For just about any other film I wouldn't have considered sending this in, but the look and style of shooting of the original Blair Witch was such a big factor in many people's liking or disliking of the film... well, I just thought that'd be something you folks would want to know.

That's it for now, Constant Readers. I'll probably be back pretty soon to share my view of U-571. Till then, farewell and adieu.
