Does This Mean We'll See A Live Action Spidey Fighting Alongside THE AVENGERS In Something Other Than An Axel Braun Film??

CraveOnline recently spoke with Producers Avi Arad and Matthew Tolmach.  Arad was, of course, a producer on the previous SPIDER-MAN films (Raimi) as well as the first three X-MEN films and IRON MAN.  He is also producing Marc Webb's forthcoming AMAZING SPIDER-MAN reboot picture - on which Tolmach is a producer as well.  Several interesting snippets arose from the conversation, which are zinged below for your consideration.

Regarding that slowly-gathering-steam VENOM movie we've been hearing about, with which CHRONICLE director Josh Trank is said to be involved, Crave says...

A Venom movie would make Eddie Brock the hero. It won’t be until he crosses paths with Peter Parker that he becomes a villain.

Arad embellishes...

“As you know, Venom is defender of the innocent,” Arad said. “The only guy he really, really hates is Peter Parker, Spider-Man..."

[EDIT]

So would the plan be to merge this Venom with Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man in a later movie? “All things are possible someday,” Tolmach carefully implied...

The conversation also turned to the notion of whether we might see, say, Spider-Man (whose film rights are retained by Sony) appear in an AVENGERS movie - whose film rights are not held by Sony. Such a bigscreen crossover is a major talking point throughout the Geekverse, but has (to date) been assumed unlikely due to the quagmire of politics which would be involved.  Or, is it unlikely?

[EDIT]

“Everything is possible,” Arad said. “If something like that happens, it’s great for Disney, it’s great for Sony. "

Very interesting...and promising.  At the end of the day, here's hoping all studios involved (Fox included?) smell money (AVENGERS has cleared over billion dollars and is still going strong) and decide it's in everyone's best interest to collide the Marvel characters whose rights they hold into a well-considered, carefully planned, large cinematic universe.  Not always...just from time to time.  Seems a win/win notion  for all.
