A Report on the BAFTA's from Euro-AICN

Well here's yet another report from our busy office in Paris . Our editors have been swamped with info and Father Geek for one is a very very happy geek because of it. This was my pet project and it looks like it will be around for a long time now...

.... and another special report, this one on the BAFTA's by Euro-AICN's Edgard

Last Friday the BAFTA's ceremony took place in London (remember the BAFTA's are the British Academy of Film and Television Awards).... After the Oscars, it seems AMERICAN BEAUTY can't be stopped. Personally I am quite happy to see Charlie Kaufman receiving the original screenplay award for BEING JOHN MALKOVICH (you don't get that kind of screenplay every day). And I am sure Darth Bond must still celebrate the victory of Pedro Almodovar in the streets of Paris... but here is a complete report from Mr Potato Head :

The British Academy Film Awards are not just for British films but are for all films, they are just judged by the British academy. American Beauty swept the Board with 6 BAFTA`s this included Kevin Spacey for Best Actor, Annette Bening for Best Actress and Best Film.

The big shock of the night was when Sam Mendes failed to win Best Director. This was picked up by Pedro Almodovar for All About My Mother. Micheal Caine lost out to possible Spiderman Jude Law. Micheal Caine wont be too disappointed because he received a Academy Fellowship award. The late Stanley Kubrick also picked a Fellowship award.

Best British Film went to the critically acclaimed East Is East. (That's good too !)
