Hey folks, Harry here with something that I actually speculated about with some friends right after Spielberg set aside MINORITY REPORT for A.I. There are several properties that Tom Cruise controls that he could go with, but HOUDINI is the one that I'm most familiar with, and I know it has a great script. He also has IRON MAN, but he doesn't have a 100% great script yet, so that will be... down the road, if ever. But HOUDINI... it has a storied past. At times there have been 3 scripts floating around. The great one is by Stephen Rivele and Christopher Wilkenson (the Oscar nominated writers of NIXON) something about tricky characters that they just groove to I suppose. At one point I heard this was being rewritten a bit, and I haven't seen a revised draft. For a long time the project was attached firmly in the paws of Paul Verhoeven. And for a bit after STARSHIP TROOPERS it looked like this would be the followup project. At one point, I heard that Robert Zemeckis was quite interested in the project. Then I heard that there was a possible MANDRAKE THE MAGICIAN property floating around. Gossip Diva Cindy Adams at the Post is reporting that Cruise is all set to play Houdini. Well... my only question is... Who'll direct, who's writing, where's it set up, when the hell did this happen? Because of the commas... it's just one question, though a multipart question... I'd bet Woo could direct the shit out a Houdini film. Birds...
Hi, Harry, Darwin here. Cindy Adams reported in The New York Post that Tom Cruise is all set to play Houdini. Just because the Post reports something as definite doesn't mean it IS definite, but I thought you'd like to know. Wonder if he'd get another one o' them Days of Thunder perms. . .
