Hey folks, Harry here with an introduction to a review of a script, that... to be honest... will never see the light of day. Stax over at FlixBurg has recently read the 1st Draft David Goyer draft of BLADE 2. Now, I've read this draft as well, but decided to ignore it because Guillermo Del Toro and David Goyer have been in the process of a page one rewrite. From what I've heard from Guillermo, the basic concept will remain the same, but characters, bad guys, action scenes, etc... will be changing. He has ideas about making Blade far more than a one-dimensional vampire slayer, while retaining the action of the first film and in addition adding some horror. Some legitimate scares. Not the loud noise, hand on the shoulder or telephone ring type... Guillermo hates those. And before you start referencing like scenes in MIMIC... you might want to know that those scenes.... were not Guillermo scenes, but studio scenes. When I've talked to Guillermo about BLADE 2, he's called it his love song to Talk Backers. He is setting out to make a hardcore cool action horror film with a brain and soul. So it isn't just the pulsing sound and fury. It's not just lovey dovey ponderous art. But a film that combines all the best candies in the box and takes out the nasty crap we don't like. Also... you may want to know that right now... Monster/Alien Creature Art God, Wayne Barlowe is working up designs and creature ideas for BLADE 2 with Guillermo. Anyone familiar with Barlowe's superior artistry should be excited by this. So... as you read Stax's review at the link below, please remember.... This is the draft BEFORE Guillermo signed on to direct. Del Toro is a Writer/Director, and is working to improve the script throughout. Hopefully, I'll get to see this script... if not... I have read 7 other Del Toro scripts, and they have all been at least very good, some have been genius. (like the Spanish film THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE that he is currently shooting)
