Vulture is reporting exclusively that Sean Durkin, the writer-director of “Martha Marcy May Marlene,” is pitching a 10-episode series based on William Peter Blatty’s 1971 novel “The Exorcist.”
According to Vulture, the series will include more from the novel than William Friedkin’s blockbuster could:
Unlike the iconic 1973 film, Durkin’s version of The Exorcist follows the events leading up to a demonic possession and especially the after-effects of how a family copes with it
There’s no channel yet involved but the project is backed by the Morgan Creek production concern behind “The Good Shepherd,” “Georgia Rule” and last year’s “The Thing” remake.
