Paul Kinsey, last seen in 2009’s third-season finale, resurfaced with a new haircut and a “Star Trek” script titled “The Negron Complex.” I gather it was about a planet on which dark-skinned people were dominant and whites formed the minority underclass. In an interview conducted by David Gerrold for his book “The World of Star Trek,” DeForest Kelley noted there was talk of a potential episode that would have seen Uhura and Atlanta native Leonard McCoy posing as slave-owner and slave to complete a mission on such a planet.
Interesting that Paul Kinsey and Ken Cosgrove have both taken to writing sci-fi. How awesome would it be if Matthew Weiner undertook a similar pursuit once he finishes with “Mad Men” in two years?
The “Star Trek” episode airing Dec. 15, 1966, was “Balance of Terror,” which introduced Spock’s more emotional cousins, the Romulans.
