Next week brings the final Thursday of Sweeps but “The Office,” “Parks and Recreation,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Secret Circle” are all checking out early.
Goodbye, Kelly Kapoor! One of the actors who won’t be back on “The Office” next season is Mindy Kaling, whose Fox sitcom pilot was yesterday picked up to series.
Tonight it looks like Andy Bernard and his millionaire former boss, David Wallace, are going to orchestrate a hostile takeover of Dunder Mifflin. Deleted from last week’s episode:

The crew at Southern California’s KERN-AM and I got to speak Saturday to “Parks and Recreation” mastermind Michael Schur, who assured us we will learn tonight who won Councilman Pillner’s seat. He said the election’s outcome was debated all season long, and the “Parks” crew even shot two endings -- one in which the privileged and handsome (some might say Romneyesque) Bobby Newport (Paul Rudd) wins, the other in which Leslie Knope wins.
Win or lose, the council position is only part-time, so Leslie will return to the “Parks” department should NBC order another season. (NBC announces its fall schedule Monday, so we should be hearing this weekend – or earlier – about which of NBC’s many bubble shows will be back this fall.)
Schur also told us he and Poehler still hoped to lure Bill Murray to play Pawnee’s mayor on the show, though they still haven’t reached out to the “Ghostbusters” icon via his infamous answering machine.

* While Shonda Rhimes’s “Grey’s Anatomy” was steady last week, Rhimes’ “Scandal” sank to a new series low of 1.9.
* ABC’s “Missing” and NBC’s “Awake” also sank to new series lows. Neither “Prime Suspect” nor “The Firm” ever fell below a 0.8 in “Awake’s” timeslot.
