Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg And Nick Frost To Begin Shooting THE WORLD'S END This September!

Beaks here...

At long last, the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy shall draw to a close.

According to Deadline's Michael Fleming, Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are set to begin shooting THE WORLD'S END this September. As on SHAUN OF THE DEAD and HOT FUZZ, Wright will direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with Pegg. The film will be produced by Working Title's Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner and Big Talk's Nira Park, while Universal will likely distribute (Fleming says Uni also has to greenlight the movie, but this is expected as the film will be modestly budgeted).

Along with the vague start date, Deadline also scored what I'm pretty sure is the first extensive logline for THE WORLD'S END. Here 'tis:

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

In other words, a remake of TELEFON.

There was renewed speculation this week that Wright's long-in-development ANT-MAN might be his next movie to go before cameras, but that iron will evidently remain in the fire for now - as will the NIGHT STALKER film he's developing with Johnny Depp and an original project currently titled BABY DRIVER. Frankly, I'm happy THE WORLD'S END won out. It's been four years since HOT FUZZ, and I was beginning to worry that Wright, Pegg and Frost might never be able to sync up their schedules long enough to make a movie together.

According to Deadline, THE WORLD'S END will arrive in the spring of 2013. Suck on that, Mayans.
