Suddenly Seymour!! Joseph Gordon-Levitt Is Eyeing LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS!!

The Kidd here...

Every day it seems like there's more and more news of remakes after reboots after more remakes to wade through, and finally... FINALLY... today we catch wind of such a project I can get behind, because right out of the gate it sounds like a helluva lot of fun.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is working on developing LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that JGL is eyeing to star in LITTLE SHOP as Seymour, the loserish florist who comes into contact with a plant from outer space who needs to feed on blood in order to survive. As the plant gets bigger, Seymour gets more famous until eventually only one of them can survive.

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who wrote Broadway's SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK, is set to pen the script, which be a turn-off for some of you, but I can't see how anyone, even if they tried their hardest, could fuck up a redo of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, which was a remake in its own right.

Roger Corman's 1960 film (with an early Jack Nicholson) became an off-Broadway musical, where it really gained popularity before it was done as a film starring Rick Moranis in 1986. It was revived for Broadway in 2003, but that run was short-lived.

I was hoping JGL might go with something a little juicier when I first heard this come down, perhaps the sadistic dentist Orin Scrivello, which would have been quite the departure from his other roles... but I'll settle for him going nerdy for another revamping of this material.
