Matthew McConaughey To Star
In HBO Serial Killer TV Series??

I am – Hercules!!

A pair of movie stars – Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson – are close to starring in a new HBO series.

The channel is finalizing deals for “True Detective,” the tale of two detectives and their 17-year hunt for a Louisiana serial killer.

There could be a lot of serial killing next season, with Bryan Fuller's "Hannibal" already ordered to series by NBC, plus a possible (still untitled) Fox serial killer drama likely to go to series at Fox -- and of course a new  season of "Dexter" due this fall.

This would be McConaughey’s first regular TV series role ever and Harrelson’s first regular TV series role since “Cheers” went dark in 1993.

Recall that McConaughey and Harrelson co-starred in a 1999 movie about TV, “EDtv.”

The series was created by crime novelist Nic Pizzolatto (“Galveston”), with Cary Fukunaga (“Jane Eyre”) expected to direct all eight first-season episodes.

If the series gets a second season, it will deal with a different set of characters, so McConaughey and Harrelson will be free to pursue their busy movie careers.

This reminds me a bit of HBO’s “Luck,” which gave Dustin Hoffman his first regular series role and Nick Nolte his first series role in decades.
