Hey folks, the Intruder has decided to pick up the ol teletype and write up a counterpoint to Abranut's pan of SCARY MOVIE. Plus he includes the correct release date. And in regards to this film, it's likely to be a love/hate relationship with fandom on it. I know Moriarty hated the trailer they showed at ShoWest, while I dug it. So... it's all in the ol tastebuds... Here ya go....

Hey Harry, just read Abranut's review of Scary Movie. First of all, according to Coming Attractions at Corona, the release date to Scary Movie has been moved from May 5th to July 7th because "Miramax feels that the movie will do so well they want to move it to summer so it can stay in theatres instead of being pushed out by the first summer release at the end of May."
Now, I saw a preview screening of this movie last week here in arizona (from which Im moving away from in a couple of hours to sweet New Jeysey). I was planning on writting a review for your pleasure and everyone else who visits your fine site, only to see that Jake the Snake had beat me to it. I felt his review was very accurate. This movie is extremely funny and there wasn't a soul in the theater who wasn't laughing there ass off. Definitely the best slap-stick comedy I've seen since the naked gun movies. Now, this is not to say that the movie doesn't have it's share of problems. Because there are quite a few gags in this movie there were just plain not funny at all. But that's the whole point to these preview screenings. I'm sure the execs watching the film with us realized and took note of the parts where the audience was just not laughing. I'm confident that this will be fixed, but even if it weren't, I'd still recommend this film to anyone who enjoys slap-st! ! ick comedy.
In regards to Abranut... I think that this is plain just not his kind of film. And i just plain don't respect the fact that he revealed the ending of the movie even if it is a bit stupid and unimportant. I don't know what reel he saw, but the one I saw looked pretty much complete, except of course for the opening and credits. This movie could have very well opened May 5th, no problem.
I feel this is a much funnier movie than "Something About Mary", and i thought that was funny as shit. With the right changes on this film, i feel everyone would agree with me. I hope you find this of interest
