From the director of GO and SWINGERS comes BOURNE IDENTITY with Brad Pitt

Hey folks, Harry here. Well, the director of SWINGERS (a movie I really love) and GO (a movie I really loathe) comes a film that... sounds pretty good, called BOURNE IDENTITY. Now, while I loathe GO as a whole, I dig small segments of the film (talking cat, strip club gun scene), I do respect Liman from his work on SWINGERS, which had a superior script and cast in my opinion. I'm just not a Katie Holmes fan yet... though I know many that are. This seems like he's heading in a completely different and interesting direction as a director... And I am anxious to hear more about the project. Check it out...

Hey Harry-

Doug Liman, director of Swingers and Go, gave a talk for a film class here at KU this evening for a Jazz in Film class that I was lucky enough to sneak into. Following a presentation of Swingers, Mr. Liman spoke at length about Swingers and how it was made for $200,000 and all the fun ways that it was done.

But the nicest part was when he spoke about his new film project for Universal. Shooting for the Bourne Inentity, based on the novel by Robert Ludlum, starts in September. Brad Pitt is in the lead role for this $75 million movie, and Liman said that he wants it to be a cool, hip, spy movie, in the vein of La Femme Nikita with the visual style of Lola Rennt (Run Lola Run). I think he best described it as the "anti-Bond." Should be interesting. Later

And this is what AMAZON.COM says briefly about the book...

Jason Bourne. He has no past. And he may have no future. His memory is blank. He only knows that he was flushed out of the Mediterranean Sea, his body riddled with bullets. There are a few clues. A frame of microfilm surgically implanted beneath the flesh of his hip. Evidence that plastic surgery has altered his face. Strange things that he says in his delirium -- maybe code words. Initial: "J.B." And a number on the film negative that leads to a Swiss bank account, a fortune of four million...
