Hey folks, Harry here.... There's been a bunch of news about the TERMINATOR series... what with the German financing and other angles coming into play, but thus far... No one has seen scripts, there has been no director attached, no talent attached. We know that it won't be Cameron or Arnold. So this will be, something new. Something completely unrelated and proven to work. So you should probably dial your anticipation to next to nothing. And get interested as though this was just another sci fi project in development. Cause as it is right now... Well, whatever. Al Bundy gathered up a bunch of news for us, so enjoy...
Harry,
Al Bundy here - long time reader, first time contributor - with some news that might be of interest to you regarding T3 and T4.
I just got back from the shoe store about an hour ago and was happy to see Peg flat out on that godawful couch of our's in a bon-bon stupor. A lil' bit of personal r'n'r was in order if you know what I mean. As I was flicking through the hooters on the ol' web, a message came up from Screendaily.com - eminently reliable people - about T3 + T4. Link -
Now everybody knows that since Clint hit a hundred, Arnie's always been Ol' Al's favourite Action Star, so I'm mighty miffed to hear he won't be in 'em. Onto the news:
Mario Kassar: "I hope to be able to announce a director within the next 45 days. That will obviously also influence which studio we go with." He added that he would like to shoot the 2 movies back to back but could not be sure of having the same diector on both.
Tedi Sarafian, who wrote Tank Girl, is days away from delivering a completed script for T3, which will shoot in the Autumn and be out in theatres in the 4th quarter of 2001. Kassar: "Teddi's first draft is more than excellent."
Dave Wilson who wrote Rollerball, is the assigned writer of T4.
T3 is understood to be set in 2001, T4 in the 2020s.
Personally I think these projects could go either way - just have to wait and see.
Hope that was of interest.
On a personal note, Harry, I'd like to thank you for recommending Gates of Fire some time ago. Best book I ever read. Have you heard anything about this project lately - with Mann now attached to Ali, could it pass to someone else or has it been shelved til the industry sees what kind of business Gladiator does?
Anyway, Have a Bundyful time,
Al
P.S. Further to what I sent you earlier regarding the Terminator franchise, Univeral and Fox are reported to be front runners for distribution rights in the US, and worryingly, a TV series is in the pipeline.
It would be awful to see this great series of films turned into something like Highlander or Stargate SG1, don't you think?
Til' next time,
Al
