Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Ralph Macchio! No, I don't mean the Marvel editor, but the Karate Kid. Yes, the Ralph Macchio just landed the role of Psycho scribe Joseph Stefano in HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO, the biopic starring Anthony Hopkins as Hitch, Scarlett Johannson as Janet Leigh, James D'Arcy as Tony Perkins, Jessica Biel as Vera Miles and Helen Mirren as Alma Revill, according to Deadline.
That's awesome. I'm getting an Ed Wood vibe from the casting of this film. Not that I believe the tone will be similar to that film, but it just seems like a ton of interesting actors are being cast as larger-than-life characters and I'm DYING to see how it turns out.
Regarding, Macchio... I just recently rewatched My Cousin Vinny and found myself really impressed with his turn in that film. I remember at the time I was like, "Hey, it's the Karate Kid..." and that was about it, but I feel like this poor guy delivered a performance in a role that became a huge pop culture landmark and he wasn't ever able to really shake it free. I'm glad to see him get a shot at a (hopefully) meaty role.
Count this one very high up on my anticipated films list. What do you think?
