Mitt Romney
Headed For SNL??

I am – Hercules!!

“Of course it would depend on the nature of the skit. I want it to be funny,” Mitt Romney told Diane Sawyer on “World News Tonight” when asked if he’ll accept Lorne Michaels’ invitation to appear on “Saturday Night Live.”

SNL (which now beats all of NBC’s scripted primetime shows and all the late-night shows in the ratings) routinely portrays Romney as a stiff with no real convictions.

In my view, Romney would be a fool to turn down an opportunity; an SNL appearance certainly can’t make things any worse for him.

According to a CNN/ORC poll released today, President Obama is leading Romney by nine percentage points, which is considerable. Obama has a staggering 19 percent lead over Romney among women voters.  Four out of five of the nation’s Latinos favor Obama over Romney.

On the other hand, SNL appearances don’t seem to get GOP candidates elected president. Gerald Ford appeared on SNL’s Apr. 17, 1976, episode then lost the election the following November. John McCain appeared on SNL’s Nov. 1, 2008, installment, mere days before he lost to Obama.
