The CARRIE remake has its date!

Hey folks, Harry here...  This is one of those titles, of all of Stephen King's titles, that I think will end up becoming his most adapted work.   The story of a girl that gets bullied and then...  well you know.   Well, sadly it isn't an isolated story.  Bullying is an issue that continues to claim victims and as a result, King's cautionary tale about watching out for who you pick on...  it will be told and told frequently.

Personally, I just feel Brian DePalma's CARRIE should just be reissued into theaters every PROM season for the rest of time.   I completely love that film.   Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie...  The 3 times in my life that I've read King's novel...  I see them in my mind's eye as the characters.

So why not rage at the notion of a remake of this?

First it is being made by a filmmaker that has a great deal of talent.   Kimberly Peirce's CARRIE will be hitting on March 15, 2013 and will be starring Chloe Moretz as Carrie White.   When the news hit, Kimberly Peirce posted the following upon her FACEBOOK page:

We have a release date!

The article rightly points out I have gone back to the wonderful STEPHEN KING Book CARRIE; I am also modernizing the story as one has to in order to bring any great piece of work written in one era into the next and especially given how very relevant this material is right now.

Chloe is going deep into character to get this right....sewing her own dresses, spending time in her closet....and so much more....Thanks for all the great wishes. We are on it! And privileged to be working with such great source material.

I'm interested to see what this film becomes.  I'm very curious to see Chloe get into the skin of this character - and for Kimberly to create the environment that unleashes what this little girl has inside of her.   That said...  I'm glad to have CARRIE on BluRay!
