Hey folks, Harry here with the first look at SCARY MOVIE, the comedy from Miramax that I saw the trailer for during ShoWest, that I feel is going to perform very very well for Dimension this year. The trailer is funny as hell, and I think the film will officially put the nails in the teen Williamson thriller. Now we just need more stuff like Buffy in theaters!
I sat down with a group of friends and we watched "Scary Movie" which as many know, is the new Wayan's Brothers spoof of "Scream" and "I know what you did last summer." I had heard rumors that this film is even raunchier than "American Pie." Let me tell you: IT IS!!!!!!!!!! The raunchiness in "Scary Movie" makes "American Pie" look like it's rated PG-13! It also happens to be a very, very funny movie.
The film starts out just like "Scream," with Carmen Electra in Drew Barrymore's role. She is stalked by the ghostfaced killer in her house, as was Drew, but in the Wayan's version she is forced out of her house where her clothes are ripped off and she has to run in her bra and panties through the sprinkler system in her back yard. This is until her father accidentally hits her with his car while getting road head. If you think that is tastless, you should probably not go see this movie, because it only gets worse! The thing is though, for the most part, every tastless gag is funny as shit, and in a crowded theatre this movie is going to play like Shakespeare at The Globe!
I find it hard to believe that the MPAA is going to approve the cut that I saw, though I hope they do. One scene likely to be cut involves a man getting stabbed in the side of his head with an erect penis in a movie theatre bathroom (ala Scream 2) Another scene Jack Valenti might not love involves a character getting catapulted to her cieling in a cum explosion. I hope nothing gets cut, but we all know how the MPAA reacts to shots of dicks (and let me say, this movie has it's share.)
In the end, "Scary Movie" is definately worth the price of admission, especially if you are a "Scream" fan (others might not catch ALL of the references, although everybody in the audience is likely to find a severly retarded Dewey amusing.)Of course, some of this movie is ridiculously stupid, and some of the jokes miss their marks, but nonetheless, there is enough here to keep you laughing (or gagging.)
-Jake the snake (off the pipe my friend)
P.S. If you are not amused by jokes made at the expense of gays, blacks, women, and retarded people, this is probably not your cup of tea!
