Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. In response to many years of requests from readers of my annual Holiday Shopping Guide I’m trying out a Summer Gift Guide in the coming weeks… God help me. I’ve been hesitant because of the sheer amount of work involved in these articles and, frankly, I’m very proud of the way the Holiday Guides turn out every November and don’t want to dilute the next one.
However, upon polling my twitter followers, getting an overwhelming “Yes, please!” and doing some research I’ve found that not only is there a desire for another round up of geek fun, but a plethora of toys, DVDs, maquettes, clothing, gadgets, art, books and music have flooded the market in the last few months. As I started poking around for cool stuff I found I’ve already built a sizeable list of interesting geek things.
So, keep an eye out for a (hopefully) smaller, but just as potent Gift Guide hitting in the next few weeks.
During my investigatory period I was contacted by Shana at QMX Online, who have a lot of replicas, nerd merchandise and other geekiness, about premiering a whopper of an exclusive they have in the pipeline.
Monster designer Neville Page has created a bust of his Super 8 alien exclusively for QMX Online. This limited edition bust stands over 10 inches tall and is currently available for pre-order with a shipping date this summer (so watch out, Elle Fanning). He’ll run ya’ $199.95. For that you the head, the… well, it’s a bust so pretty much just the head and shoulders, but that’s all you really need.

It was nice of the QMX team to give us this first look. You’ll be seeing him rear his head again whenever the Summer Shopping Guide goes live, I’m sure.
